Carter Oosterhouse
Carpenter and host of Red Hot & Green and Carter Can
From Carter Oosterhouse's first appearance on television, audiences took notice of the 6-foot-2-inch carpenter, who looked more like a runway model than a guy who installs shelves in your den. People magazine featured Oosterhouse in their "Sexiest Man Alive" issue in 2003. He's also been on the cover and featured in many other publications including TV Guide, Star, US Weekly, Organic Style and USA Today.
Born and raised in Traverse City, Mich., Oosterhouse is the youngest of four children. A natural athlete, he excelled in sports and attended Central Michigan University on a rugby scholarship. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in nutrition and communication, Oosterhouse relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a modeling and acting career.
Along with promoting HGTV's Green Home giveaway and consulting on its development, Oosterhose hosts the show, Red, Hot & Green, which focuses on integrating green design into everyday homes and room remodels, and employs new and old eco-friendly materials on his other show Carter Can.
Oosterhouse also lends his time and talent to several children's charities, including New York's Books for Kids, Coach for Kids and the Fulfillment Fund in Los Angeles. When not on the road working, Oosterhouse has homes in California and Michigan.
