Anna Sova luxury organic linens

"Everything you bring into your home has a potential to off gas, so when you chose products to sleep on, you should look at what they’re made out of," advises Greg Snowden, owner of Green Fusion Design Center. "Consumers don’t realize that many bed sheets that we buy are typically treated with formaldehyde to make them soft. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, and you are sleeping in it against the largest organ in your body, which is your skin, breathing it in on a daily basis. There’s no reason for it."
From Coyuchi to Anna Sova, numerous companies are offering beautiful luxurious organic cotton sheets, and bedding which are just as soft, and by buying it, "you are doing the world a favor," says Snowden. "The fact is the cotton industry uses one quarter of all the pesticides that are consumed in the world. For that reason alone, it’s important to support organic cotton sheets and bedding; and it’s better for you too."
For an exceptionally sustainable sleep, there are wool filled comforters, and eco-friendly mattresses available from Greensleep. "They are filled with 100% natural latex rubber, which comes from a rubber tree," explains Joaquin, who favors Greensleep in her home. "The rubber is harvested in Malaysia. They go and tap the trees like you would for maple syrup and bake it up into nice fluffy cakes. The comfort is phenomenal."
