AFM Safecoat paint has zero VOCs, which cuts back on indoor air pollution.
By Jenny Jedeikin
Most people don't realize that typical latex paint can off-gas not only when it's wet, but up to three-and-a-half years after it has been applied. The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in most paints are a major source of indoor air pollution; doctors have linked them to ailments ranging from behavioral problems to kidney failure.
Luckily there is a doctor-recommended, eco-friendly alternative to traditional paint; it looks terrific, and at $30 a gallon, costs about the same as other quality water-based paints. The paint of choice for the headquarters of The Gap and Banana Republic, AFM's Safecoat is a leader in the green-building industry. They offer a full line of paints in every finish, from matte to gloss, and supply a wide range of stylish colors.
